The New Presidential Rail Trail: Gorham to the Israel River Bridge and Rollo Falls 9:00 am B/2/21
Tuesday, July 26th, 2021
I am so sorry for posting late, but I obsess too much about the weather forecast these days and my original "Plan A" will happen another time. This week I would like to bike the Presidential Rail Trail westward from Gorham to show off the recent trail restoration work that has been done during June and into July. It is quite different than before, I don't recognize it! We will be off the busy roads and in the shady forest.
The weather looks good in the morning, so let's start up there at 9:00 am and bike out and back on the rail trail all the way from Gorham to the Israel River Bridge, visiting Rollo Falls on the way. Return is by a 10 mile downhill cruise.
Park at the Route 2 parking lot adjacent to the rail trail in Gorham. To get there, drive up Route 16 north to Gorham, take a left a the stop sign, go through town and take a left onto Route 2 at the traffic light. In less than a mile, there will be a parking lot on your right side, it is long and relatively narrow, separated form the rail trail by a wooden rail fence. Meet there ready to ride at 9:00 am.
