Hemlock Covered Bridge Out/Back 12 or 26 mile options. 9:30 am. B/2/26
Tuesday, August 10, 2021
Ellin will host this very scenic, mostly dirt road ride from North Fryeburg to the Hemlock Covered Bridge, and beyond. It starts at our usual parking area in the park alongside the Saco Valley Fire Station in North Fryeburg. Head out on Harbor Road, cross straight over McNeil Road onto the dirt farm road (River Road) between the farm fields. It eventually crosses Route 5 and goes down Frog Alley along the Old Saco River. On Frog Alley, look for Frog Rock, mascot of the road, on the right side, send me a photo of cyclists to post! (He has been kissed, but no luck with getting a prince out of this frog, yet).
Biking to the covered bridge is 6.1 miles, but of you go further you will enjoy a dirt road that goes slightly uphill. About a month ago when we did this ride the road was in excellent shape. Typically has some sandy spots, so look for them. Turn back wherever you want, or go all the way to where the road crosses Route 302. The downhill cruise back to the bridge is superb!! it is 13 miles to Route 302, so you can get anything between 12.2 to 26 miles of round trip fun!
Meet at the fire station at 9:30 am Ready to Ride!
