Bear Notch and the Experimental Forest Loop. 9:00 am. Ride Code B/3/16
Tuesday, June 29, 2021
I held off on posting a ride, concerned about the heat or rain, but it looks like a good day for a morning ride before needed rain comes in for the rest of the week. I am still away, so I am posting a local ride that is always fun! Bob will be there to be the host.
This ride is a good one for a steady relaxed-pace climb up Bear Notch Road and a really nice downhill winding thorough the experimental forest, which is a shady cool green tunnel. Stop at every scenic overlook for a scenic overlook and a break.
Meet at the Attitash parking lot, far western end ready to ride at 9:00. You can get a few miles of warm up before starting up Bear Notch Road. After the 3rd scenic overlook, turn right onto the dirt Experimental Forest Road. The road is in good shape. It is beautiful in there!
As you go down the dirt road, after a few miles, at the first intersection take a right, then the first left, then right at the clear cut area. You will rejoin Bear Notch Road just above the gate. See the map link below for the details.
Bring water and snacks.
