Bear Notch and the Experimental Forest Roads 10:00 am. Ride Code B/3/16

Tuesday, May 25, 2021

Good weather for Tuesday this week!  This ride is a good one for a steady relaxed-pace climb up Bear Notch Road and a really nice downhill winding thorough the experimental forest, which is now a spring green tunnel. Last time I was in there, I saw a moose in the recent clear cut areas. Bear Notch Road is still quiet, goods time to do it before the RVs start to show up. Stop at every scenic overlook for a scenic overlook and a break.

Let's meet at the Attitash parking lot, far western end ready to ride at 10:00. We will get a few miles of warm up before we start going up Bear Notch Road. After the 3rd scenic overlook, we will turn right onto the dirt Experimental Forest Road. The road is in good shape. It is beautiful in there!

Bring water and snacks.

Total distance: 16 miles

MWV Bike Club Ride Code: B/3/16.

What does this mean??

B = Social pace; regroups; no drops
3= Rolling hills; occasional long or steep grade
16= Mileage

  1. I saw an adult moose crossing Bear Notch Road this morning - maybe a mile past the gate on the Bartlett side!
