Presidential Rail Trail, Gorham to Randolph. 10:00 am

Tuesday, June 21, 2022

Sorry for the late posting. I am hosting the 3-day ride on the Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail, the ride started today so I am a bit behind in my jobs.  Tomorrow we ride from Littleton to Gorham, so if you start from Gorham we might meet you on the trail.  The lupines and other wildflowers are still looking great and there should be great views of the Presidentials.

Park at the Route 2 parking lot adjacent to the rail trail in Gorham. To get there, drive up Route 16 north to Gorham, take a left a the stop sign, go through town and take a left onto Route 2 at the traffic light. In less than a mile, there will be a parking lot on your right side, it is long and relatively narrow, separated from the rail trail by a wooden rail fence.

I could not get an "official leader" for the ride, but just follow the rail trail and you will have a great ride.

The first 5 miles are on the restored rail trail, conditions are great!  At the beaver ponds, stop and wait a bit... the beavers have been active, even in the daytime, and may come towards you and slap their tails to make sure you respect their territory!

Ride to the Israel River Bridge. If you want more miles, at Jefferson Notch Road exit the rail trail to head down Valley Road for the lupine fields. My group of 10 will be eating lunch at Pondicherry, then heading up Valley Road for mountain and lupine viewing. Maybe we will meet you out there!

Meet at the Route 2 parking lot ready to ride at 10:00 pm.

Distance is 21 miles. Rail Trail, so it's easy!  Gradual grades!

Bring snacks to enjoy and refuel at the bridge.
