Presidential RaIl Trail and Big Day Brewing in Gorham, 1:00 pm start
Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022
It has been a slow start for the Dirt and Pavement Ride season, but the weather is looking better, so let's give it a try for this Tuesday!
The Presidential Rail Trail is in good shape and is a nice ride in this early season because the views have not been hidden by the leaves yet.
Big Day Brewing in Gorham opened up about 1 month ago. It is a gem, good food and a good variety of beer (and other beverages, too). It is Taco Tuesday, so a $3.00 taco special. Let's combine the biking with a visit to the brewery.
Big Day has been closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during their first month of operation, but in May they changed the schedule to be closed on Sundays and Mondays. This works for a Tuesday D+P Ride with the option for a stop at Big Day after the ride. The brewery opens at 4:00, so this will be an afternoon ride, which works better with this Tuesday's weather forecast.
Let's bike out and back on the rail trail all the way from Gorham to the Israel River Bridge, visiting Rollo Falls on the way. Return is by a 10 mile downhill cruise.
Park at the Route 2 parking lot adjacent to the rail trail in Gorham. To get there, drive up Route 16 north to Gorham, take a left a the stop sign, go through town and take a left onto Route 2 at the traffic light. In less than a mile, there will be a parking lot on your right side, it is long and relatively narrow, separated from the rail trail by a wooden rail fence.
Meet there ready to ride at 1:00 pm.
